Tom Hardy is taking his passion for hip-hop further with the release of his debut full-length rap album.
The actor released Czarface Meets Frankie Pulitzer on Friday, Aug. 28, joining forces with underground hip-hop supergroup Czarface under his rap alter ego Frankie Pulitzer. Dropped through Silver Age, the 15-track project marks Hardy’s first album as a leading hip-hop artist.
Czarface, made up of 7L, Esoteric, and Inspectah Deck, teamed up with Hardy for the record, while production throughout the 47-minute album was handled by Czar-Keys, the production duo consisting of 7L and Spada4.
Hardy’s debut effort also features an impressive lineup of collaborators, with Busta Rhymes, Method Man, El-P, and Kendra Morris appearing as guest artists.
To celebrate the album’s release, Hardy and Czarface unveiled the official video for “Mad Technology,” featuring Method Man. On the track, Hardy dives into a range of pop culture references, name-dropping Stephen King adaptations Cujo and Misery, Marvel’s Thor, and actor Shameik Moore.
Frankie Pulitzer had already made appearances on Czarface projects linked to Venom: Let There Be Carnage in 2021, before teaming up with Method Man on 2024’s “Knull & Void.” While Hardy has never officially revealed that Pulitzer is his alter ego, the character only appears wearing a mask that fully conceals his face.
Hardy’s connection to rap goes back even further. In the late 1990s, he performed under the name Tommy No. 1, though he was far from impressed with his early attempts when he reflected on them during a 2011 interview with the BBC.
“Because I come from a nice middle-class neighbourhood, it was a very hard sell,” Hardy said. “And I wasn’t very good!.”
