Lil Durk, despite being acquitted in his recent murder-for-hire trial, remains in custody as he continues to face additional racketeering charges — though that could soon change.
On Friday (Sept. 18), Judge Michael W. Fitzgerald ordered a hearing to determine whether the rapper should be released on bond while preparing for his second trial. That hearing is scheduled for November 4.
Durk’s racketeering trial is currently scheduled to begin on October 5, one month before the bond hearing. However, that October date was only a tentative placeholder established shortly after the murder-for-hire verdict. With the bond hearing now set for November, it could indicate that the trial may be pushed well beyond the October date.
The Chicago rapper was found not guilty on all counts last Friday (September 11) after jurors deliberated for three days. He had been accused of orchestrating and financing an attempted hit on his rap rival Quando Rondo, which instead led to the death of Rondo’s cousin, 24-year-old Saviay’a “Lul Pab” Robinson. Prosecutors alleged that the shooting was part of a retaliatory effort connected to the 2020 killing of OTF artist King Von.
Durk’s co-defendants, Deandre Wilson and David Lindsay, were found guilty of stalking and conspiracy to commit stalking.
