The privacy breach was only one of the things that upset Kid Cudi about Ebro Darden speaking publicly about their off-the-record dinner conversation. Even after accepting the veteran broadcaster’s apology, Cudi offered another clarification, saying Ebro’s version of their discussion did not accurately represent what he actually said.
“I also wanna be clear, whatever Ebro said is not the words that came out of my mouth,” Cudi wrote on X. “And that was the biggest issue. Thats what got me the most upset.” Cudi also rejected the idea that he had been privately revealing details about his relationship with Ye. “People want to know details about me and Ye, I get it, but im not runnin my mouth about personal things to strangers,” he continued. “Everything we spoke about was stuff the public already knows.”
The clarification adds another dimension to Cudi’s original criticism of Ebro. As we previously reported, Cudi said the two ended up sitting next to each other during a dinner and that he believed they were simply having a private conversation. After Ebro later shared details from the exchange on The Ebro, Laura & Rosenberg Show, Cudi accused him of being “thirsty” and “classless” for turning the conversation into public content.
Ebro had told listeners that Cudi described publicly reconnecting with Ye as “tough,” while also speaking about Cudi’s feelings toward his longtime collaborator. According to Complex, Ebro said Cudi made it clear that Ye is still his “brother” and someone he wants to love.
Cudi’s latest statement indicates that his issue wasn’t just with the conversation being made public, but also with Ebro’s retelling, which included words or phrasing Cudi says he never used. The two men have since spoken privately about the dispute. Cudi previously said Ebro gave him a sincere apology, which he accepted, and confirmed that things were “all good.” However, his follow-up made it clear that settling the disagreement did not erase his concerns over what had already been shared publicly.
“I squashed it with Ebro, but it seems the damage is done,” Cudi wrote. He also urged fans to take anything attributed to him “with a grain of salt” unless they hear it directly from him.
