Ivanna Ortiz allegedly opened fire on Rihanna and A$AP Rocky’s Los Angeles home last March. At the time, the couple was inside an Airstream trailer parked in the driveway. According toRolling Stone, Rihanna was standing in the path of one of the bullets, which pierced the trailer’s windshield.
Yesterday, we reported that Ivanna Ortiz underwent a psychological evaluation and was deemed fit to stand trial. Today, she appeared in court again, where she was presented with 14 charges, several of which were new or upgraded. Ortiz faces one count of attempted murder and 10 counts of assault with a firearm. She also faces three felony counts of shooting at an inhabited dwelling or camper.
As Rolling Stone reports, Ortiz pleaded not guilty to the charges as she faces the possibility of life in prison. She is scheduled to return to court on October 29.
“This was someone who intended to kill Rihanna, with everyone else considered collateral damage,” District Attorney Alexander Bott said.
In a YouTube video uploaded on January 4 of 2026, Ortiz issued threats against Riri. “Listen, Rihanna. When you die, God is taking me to my future. You want to kill me. Shut the fuck up,” Ortiz said.
“Firing shots in a populated neighborhood is incredibly dangerous, puts lives at risk, and will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman said following the announcement of the charges months ago. “Thankfully, no one was injured in this shooting, but this careless violence will not be tolerated in our community. Such shooters will find their next destination to be our jails and prisons.”
