Last week, a report from Hits Daily Double claimed that Drake was being considered as a potential Coachella headliner. The news came as a surprise, with many fans struggling to imagine the possibility.
Now, that report appears to be gaining more traction. Hits Daily Double has published another update, revealing that BTS was initially expected to headline the festival before ultimately pulling out of negotiations.
Drake is now reportedly among the leading names being considered for the headline slot. Interestingly, SZA is also said to be in the running. A third act under consideration is Radiohead, the legendary alternative rock band.
Considering Drake’s recent history, his name being floated for the festival is somewhat unexpected. The rapper remains one of the biggest artists in hip-hop, but in recent years, Drizzy has been hesitant to headline major festivals in the United States. He did headline Wireless, though that festival took place overseas.
Drake landing the gig would make sense, particularly if it takes place during his world tour for ICEMAN. During the rollout for FOMO, Drake confirmed that he plans to tour the world in 2027, and Coachella’s April dates could easily fit into those plans.
As for SZA, it remains unclear whether she has new music on the way. Still, she is one of R&B’s biggest crossover pop stars, with an extensive catalog that could easily support a headlining performance.
Radiohead is also a strong possibility, especially considering how well that style of alternative rock has historically translated to the California desert. For now, fans will have to wait patiently for an official announcement.
