Nicki Minaj isn’t ready to entertain questions about her next album just yet.
The rapper took the stage at the X Takeover event in Austin, Texas, where she was asked what fans should expect from her upcoming project.
Although the crowd seemed thrilled at the possibility of hearing an exclusive announcement, Minaj quickly shut down their expectations.
“Nothing…next question,” she said with a laugh.
Her response follows a year of mixed signals about her next project. In September 2025, Minaj ended a month-long social media hiatus with a post that read “3.27.26” alongside a CD emoji, leading fans to believe she was announcing the release date for her sixth studio album.
However, just weeks later, on Oct. 15, 2025, she changed course in a post directed at Jay-Z. “Ok I’m not going to put out the album anymore… No more music. Hope you’re happy now @sc Bye, Barbz. Love you for life,” she wrote.
Meanwhile, fans have been waiting for new music from the rapper for nearly three years. Her most recent album, Pink Friday 2, arrived on Dec. 8, 2023, debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 228,000 album-equivalent units. The achievement made Minaj the first female rapper to have three albums reach the top of the chart.
The uncertainty surrounding her next album has unfolded alongside her public tensions with Jay-Z and Roc Nation CEO Desiree Perez, despite Minaj being signed to Republic Records. She previously claimed that Roc Nation approached her about a tour and a new album, but she turned down the offer.
