Pitbull Insists His Children Grow Up Away From the Spotlight of Fame

Pitbull has built a successful career in the spotlight, from his Miami rap roots to global pop hits and major business ventures. However, the artist says he prefers to keep his children away from public attention.

During a new interview with Billboard, Pitbull explained that he deliberately keeps his family out of the public eye because his children aren’t yet prepared for the attention that comes with his fame.

“I don’t wanna put them in my world ’cause they’re not built for it yet,” said the singer and global brand ambassador, whose real name is Armando Christian Pérez. He described the decision as part of his responsibilities as a parent.

Pitbull believes children should have the freedom to choose how much of their lives they share with the public once they are old enough to understand the implications.

For an artist whose name has become synonymous with crossover success, that distinction stands out. Pitbull first gained recognition in Miami’s hip-hop scene in the early 2000s, making early appearances with Uncle Luke and Lil Jon before releasing his debut album, M.I.A.M.I., in 2004.

He later moved beyond his crunk and Latin-rap roots, delivering international dance-pop hits such as “I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho),” “Give Me Everything” and “Timber.”

His rise to global fame is part of the reason he believes public exposure can create complications for those closest to him. Speaking to Billboard, Pitbull explained that even sharing a photo with a young child online could introduce them to a world shaped by his celebrity status.

“If you’re a kid, 3 years old, 5 years old, early teens, and you’re taking a picture with me and we’re posting it to the world, I’m letting you into my world now,” he said.

He also raised concerns about his children becoming associated with situations simply because of their connection to him.

According to Pitbull, these concerns extend to everyday environments, including school. He questioned how his children could distinguish genuine friendships from relationships influenced by their father’s fame.

“Now you go to school and everybody like, ‘Oh, ’cause you’re Pitbull’s kid,’” he said. “How are you gonna ever know who’s your friend?”

Pitbull reportedly has six children and has largely kept details about their personal lives out of the public eye.
