Star Wars actor John Boyega has shared some major personal news. While he may not be Force-sensitive, he is married and preparing to welcome his first child.
Boyega opened up about his marriage and growing family during an interview with The Guardian, where he reflected on the loss of a childhood friend and its impact on him ahead of the release of the documentary Damilola: The Untold Story.
The actor revealed that he quietly got married “coming up on two years” ago. He also shared that he and his spouse are expecting their first child together, a baby boy.
Explaining why they opted for a private wedding, Boyega said, “We both like the idea of celebrating something established, rather than celebrating the entry.”
However, Boyega admitted that he would “love” to throw a much bigger celebration in the future, one so grand that they’ll “have to shut Nigeria down.”
Boyega has yet to reveal his wife’s identity, but speculation has circulated for some time that he married actress Tae Heckard. Fans on social media have pointed to the pair wearing matching wedding bands and appearing together at recent public events.
Elsewhere in the interview, Boyega discussed the two wedding bands he owns. One is a two-tone ring from a globally recognized supermarket chain that holds “sentimental” value, while the other was purchased at a later date.
“This is the one we decided to pick up spontaneously because I just wanted the ring on my finger, so we went to Walmart to get this,” he said. “It was a lovely trip to Walmart. Shout out, Walmart Canoga Park!”
