Actress Kate Beckinsale took to Instagram on Thursday, July 18, to announce the heartbreaking news of her mother Judy Loe’s passing.
The 51-year-old actress shared that Loe, who was 78, died in her arms on Tuesday after enduring “immeasurable suffering.”
“I am paralysed,” Beckinsale wrote in an emotional tribute, describing her mom as “the compass of my life, the love of my life, my dearest friend.”
“She has shown so much courage, often forgiving more than she should, always believing in the goodness of people. The world feels unbearably dim without her. Mama, I love you so much,” she added.
Beckinsale also opened up about the pain of losing her father, British actor Richard Beckinsale, who died suddenly of a heart attack at just 31, when she was only five years old.
“Mama, I love you so much. Losing you has been my greatest fear ever since I found my father when I was five, and now I’m living it,” she wrote. “Oh my Mama… I’m sorry, I’m so sorry. I am so sorry.”
Judy Loe—an actress herself—had been fighting stage four cancer for the past two years.
Following the emotional post, a wave of condolences poured in from friends and fans.
Poet Nikita Gill wrote, “Oh Kate, I am so deeply and profoundly sorry for your loss. Absolutely heartbroken for you. Sending you oceans and oceans of love.”
Another commenter shared, “It has been such a gift witnessing the incredible enormous love between you two. I hope you feel all the love and support you deserve during this immeasurable heartache.”
One user added, “Oh my God, Kate. You’ve endured too much for anyone. Praying for you, sending you love and deepest condolences during this difficult time.”
Last year, Beckinsale faced speculation around her noticeable weight loss. At the time, she addressed the concern by saying, “I’m just trying to survive,” subtly revealing the emotional toll of her mother’s declining health.
