An 84-year-old grandmother living with dementia has captured hearts online after a touching request to Beyoncé for concert tickets went viral — and the music icon responded in the sweetest way.
Earlier this year, Ida Mae Macklin’s granddaughter, Gabrielle, recorded a heartfelt Instagram video of Macklin asking Beyoncé for tickets to her Cowboy Carter Tour, noting how expensive it had become to attend live shows.
“Look, Beyoncé, we have supported you so much… we have followed you, and I’m 80-something years old,” Macklin said in the clip. “I can’t afford to see you no more. I hate this. We need some tickets, we in hard times. I used to have a lot of money.”
The video struck a chord, racking up 1.6 million views on TikTok and over 7.2 million combined views across platforms. The message eventually reached Beyoncé herself, who gifted Macklin coveted floor seats to her Fourth of July weekend show in Washington, D.C. During the performance, the superstar even gave Macklin a heartfelt shoutout while singing one of her favorites, “Boots On The Ground x HEATED.”
“I love you, grandma, wherever you are,” Beyoncé said to the roaring crowd.
Gabrielle documented the magical night with a series of videos showing her grandmother dancing, singing, and glowing with joy in a green-and-white cowboy outfit.
