Although early reports suggested they were in attendance, Future and Travis Scott did not actually attend Drake’s 40th birthday party, according to DJ Akademiks.
On Monday (Oct. 26), Akademiks clarified reports claiming the pair had attended Drizzy’s 40th birthday celebration in New York City a few days earlier, admitting that he had initially reported the story incorrectly. Although they showed up outside the venue, Ak explained that the viral video of them previewing new music and partying with Loe Shimmy was actually filmed at a completely different party in NYC.
“I think Trav did show up to the door,” Ak said during his livestream. “But I don’t know if Future showed up. I don’t know what happened with that. I don’t know if he didn’t get let in, I don’t know if the cops was wilding but I know he left from there. And the people with him told all the b**ches outside Drake’s party, ‘Yo, come to this other spot. This is what we got going on.’ And they went over there to preview mad music. So this is not Drake’s birthday party.”
Despite Future and Travis Scott’s absence, several other celebrities attended Drake’s birthday celebration on Oct. 24, including Sexyy Red, Loe Shimmy, who apparently joined the festivities before leaving for the other party, Bow Wow, and others. At one point during the night, Drake also took a moment to show Bow Wizzle some love, acknowledging the impact Bow Wow had on him while growing up.
