Mack Maine, rapper and longtime friend of Lil Wayne, has shared the devastating news that his son Isaiah, affectionately known as “Zeke,” passed away earlier this month following a seizure.
Isaiah was just 20 years old. Maine revealed the heartbreaking news on Instagram on Monday (July 28) with a touching caption alongside a carousel of family photos.
He shared that Isaiah died on July 16 but chose to announce it on Monday, as the date also marked his own birthday and the two-year anniversary of his father’s death.
“I’m still in shock and still processing the fact that he’s gone,” Maine wrote. “Still confused, still questioning life and why my child and not me.”
“Zeke I thank you for granting me with one of the greatest gifts I’ve ever received, Fatherhood!” he continued. “The experience and bond with you and I brought me purpose… Since July 16th your village has been crushed and we’re hurting. This is a pain I’ve personally never felt before but I’m still trusting and believing in God’s plan and God’s will and mercy You’ll always be my Prince.”
Maine has been close to Lil Wayne since they were kids and has worn many hats alongside the rap superstar over the years. From collaborating on music to serving as president of Wayne’s label, Young Money Entertainment, and even being part of his management team, Maine has been a constant presence in Weezy’s career.
