Reports of a possible hack involving Halle Berry’s Instagram account have emerged after a Story was posted that some viewers interpreted as a dig at her ex-husband, Olivier Martinez.
The former couple is currently embroiled in a custody battle over their 13-year-old son, Maceo, following an alleged physical altercation between him and the Academy Award-winning actress last month.
Martinez, who was married to Berry from 2013 to 2016, has alleged that their son suffered repeated assaults at the hands of his mother over the past year and a half.
The Instagram Story, which appeared on Monday (Oct. 26), stated, “If kids disrespect their mom, the root cause often traces back to their relationship with the father.”
After the post was deleted, sources close to the actress reportedly informed TMZ that Berry did not publish the message and that her account may have been hacked.
Martinez is seeking a domestic violence restraining order and sole custody of their son, alleging that Berry choked Maceo during an argument on Sept. 26 that began over a virtual reality headset. Berry has denied the allegation, describing the incident as roughhousing. Her fiancé, soul musician Van Hunt, was reportedly present at the time.
On Oct. 1, Martinez was granted a temporary restraining order and temporary primary custody. Maceo testified for nearly four hours on Oct. 19, with witnesses describing the courtroom atmosphere between Berry and Martinez as “icy.”
The trial entered its second week on Monday at LA Superior Court, where Berry’s 18-year-old daughter, Nahla Aubry, testified virtually, while Hunt returned for cross-examination. Nahla, whom Berry shares with Canadian model Gabriel Aubry, testified that she had never witnessed her mother act violently toward Maceo.
“I have never seen my mom hit, slap, choke, grab, or physically abuse Maceo in any way,” Aubry said. “I have never seen my mom place her hands around Maceo’s neck, put him in a chokehold, restrict his breathing, or engage in any conduct remotely resembling the allegations that have been made against her.”
Berry is asking the court to reject the restraining order, remove the custody restrictions, and restore the joint custody arrangement she previously shared with Martinez. She is also seeking sole authority over decisions concerning Maceo’s education and mental health care.
