At a recent stop on her Hit Me Hard and Soft Tour, Billie Eilish shared how much she appreciated being surrounded by people who look “exactly” like her.
The singer made the heartfelt comment during a talk break at Dublin’s 3Arena on Saturday (July 26), as she opened up about her Irish roots and how much it means to see people who share her features.
“As you guys know, I’m Irish, so it’s cool to be here,” the 23-year-old told the crowd, as seen in the video above. “Obviously, I am not from here, but it’s really cool to come somewhere and, like, everybody looks exactly like you, and you’re all just as pasty as me, I love it.”
She continued, “Seriously though, it’s so amazing. It just makes me feel so seen … Also, like, a thousand of my relatives are in the crowd right now, I’m pretty sure. Thank you for coming. Thank you for having me here. I love it here. It’s so beautiful and you are all so beautiful and I see so many familiar faces out there.”
This isn’t the first time Eilish has opened up about her Irish roots. Before performing her first-ever show in Ireland, she told Today FM earlier this month that she grew up being told she was Irish and Scottish, but didn’t feel a strong connection to it until visiting Ireland — an experience she described as “really cool.”
