Ed Sheeran just shared the story of what he calls his worst purchase ever — and it’s a pricey one.
On the newest episode of Complex’s GOAT Talk, the singer revealed that his very first car was an Aston Martin DB9. But when fellow guest Barry Keoghan asked why it was his worst buy, Sheeran explained that the luxury ride barely made it past day one.
“I was driving back from the studio, and there’s a country lane to get to my house,” Ed said around the 18-minute mark. “I was driving down it, and there was this big puddle. I was like, ‘I’ll just drive slowly through this puddle.’ I start driving slowly … and I can see the water on my windows, and I’m like, ‘Oh fuck!'”
The car stalled out, leaving him stranded just a mile from home. “I keep trying to start it, and then I open the door. All this water comes in, and I left it on the road,” he recalled. “Someone picked it up, and I haven’t seen it since. But I just left it there.”
In another part of their chat, Sheeran and Keoghan got into their picks for the G.O.A.T. rap albums. Keoghan shouted out 50 Cent’s Get Rich or Die Tryin’, while Sheeran leaned toward classics from the Shady Records and Aftermath camp, including The Game’s The Documentary, Eminem’s The Marshall Mathers LP, and Dr. Dre’s 2001.
When it came to favorite rappers, both showed love to UK talent. Sheeran named Wretch 32, Devlin, Skepta, and JME, while Keoghan highlighted Stormzy and Dave.
