Doja Cat Admits She Loves ‘Bullying Men’ While Opening Up About Her Romance With Joseph Quinn

Doja Cat’s 80s pop-inspired album Vie is just weeks away, and the star is opening up about the bold, raunchy inspiration behind the project.

Speaking with The New York Times, Doja reflected on how her personal life feeds into her music. “As a daughter of a single mother taking care of two kids, romance is something that I feel is my life lesson because it’s not something that was ever really there,” she said, adding that she wanted to “embody [love] in sort of a tongue-in-cheek way.”

The album, she revealed, isn’t just from her perspective but also pulls from that of her rumored partner, Stranger Things actor Joseph Quinn. “I have floggers and whips all over my walls, but Vie is different because I’m talking about not only my own sexuality, but his.” When pressed about their relationship, Doja played coy, saying she’s “just having fun” and “allowing things to happen.” True to form, she also quipped that while she loves men, she equally loves “bullying men.”

Doja and Quinn have been spotted together since 2024, though paparazzi shots of him out with other women have left their exact status unclear.

On the sonic side, Doja confirmed that Vie includes several tracks produced by Jack Antonoff, the era’s go-to pop architect. “I’m doing what I was perfecting in the beginning. I’m doing what I know I know how to do,” she said, pointing to the sounds she carved out on Planet Her and Hot Pink.

Vie is set to drop September 25, with the single “Jealous Type” available now.
