Detroit rap staple Obie Trice is kicking off a new era—and he’s doing it alongside one of sports’ biggest stars.
The veteran MC has officially inked a deal with Conor McGregor’s Greenback Records, with his first single under the label, TBH [To Be Honest], dropping Friday (Sept. 12).
Trice rose to fame in the early 2000s as part of Eminem’s Shady Records roster, delivering his double-platinum debut Cheers and hits like “Got Some Teeth,” while also leaving his stamp on the 8 Mile soundtrack—solidifying his spot in Detroit rap history.
McGregor, who’s spent recent years expanding his UFC legacy into whiskey, fashion, and now music, appears ready to make Greenback Records more than just a side project. Signing a seasoned lyricist like Obie Trice points to a serious push to carve out space in the industry.
Though details on the deal’s scope and potential album plans are still under wraps, the rollout for TBH shows McGregor’s team is putting real weight behind Trice’s return. The single is already up for pre-save on streaming platforms, with more releases expected soon.
Whether this ends up as a one-off or sparks a longer partnership, the Obie–McGregor linkup is bringing hip-hop and combat sports together in a way no one saw coming.
