While presenting at Sunday’s Emmy Awards, Tina Fey couldn’t resist poking fun at Drake and Kendrick Lamar’s ongoing feud — and the crowd loved it.
The comedian slipped in the joke while announcing the nominees for Outstanding Live Variety Special, a category that included Kendrick’s Super Bowl Halftime Show performance.
“If Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl halftime special wins, I’m really going to hear it from Drake,” Fey joked. “And Drake and I are supposed to play pickleball tomorrow. So… anyway.”
The crowd ate up Tina Fey’s joke, which landed just before Kendrick ultimately lost the category to Saturday Night Live for its 50th Anniversary Special. The win meant SNL also edged out Beyoncé, who was nominated for the Beyoncé Bowl.
Another standout moment of the night came when Tramell Tillman made history as the first Black man to win Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, thanks to his role in Severance.
“You remember what you want to remember. You make time for what you want to make time for. Do the work. Show up,” Tillman said during his emotional speech, according to USA Today. “And most importantly, for the love of God, don’t embarrass me in public. My first acting coach was tough, y’all. But all great mothers are.”
