Snoop Dogg Jokes About Almost Naming His Album ‘Cowgirl’

Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre are back together for Snoop’s new album, Missionary, which dropped last Friday. The project, produced by Dre, marks a reunion that comes just in time for the 30th anniversary of Doggystyle, the iconic debut album they created together.

In an interview with Complex, Snoop shared that Dre was responsible for naming both Doggystyle and Missionary, laughing about Dre’s flair for suggestive album titles. “He’s the credit. Give this motherf**er his props with his nasty ass,” Snoop joked. “I’m all grown and sht, and you’re gonna pull me right back.”

When asked if other names were considered for the album, Snoop couldn’t resist cracking a joke. “I was going to call it Cowgirl, but he didn’t really want that. No, I’m f***ing with you. That’s not true,” he said with a laugh.

For Dre, the cheeky title is all about having fun. “I think Missionary is fun and funny as sht. We’re just having fun and being creative,” Dre said. “That’s what this whole sht is about—being in the studio together.”

Beyond the humor, Snoop opened up about what it meant to work with Dre again. “There’s a void in music that only Dr. Dre can fill,” Snoop said. “His sound doesn’t sound like anybody else’s, and what we create together is unique. I’m honored to still do it at this level.”

Dre also shared how their process evolved this time around. “It took 20 years for Snoop to let me work with him in this way,” he explained. “The way we produced, wrote, and crafted this record is different from anything we’ve done before. Especially making hip-hop at this age—it’s the sh*t. Fans are going to get a whole new taste of what we can do.”

With Missionary, Snoop and Dre are proving that their legendary partnership still has plenty of surprises in store.
