Lauren London Cast as Snoop’s Mother Beverly Tate in Upcoming Biopic ‘Snoop’

Lauren London is taking on an emotional and meaningful role in one of Hollywood’s most awaited hip-hop biopics.

The 41-year-old actress has been cast as Beverly Tate, the late mother of Snoop Dogg, in the upcoming movie Snoop, according to Deadline.

Beverly Tate, who worked as a church choir director and ordained evangelist, had a major influence on her son’s childhood and his journey into music. She passed away in October 2021 at the age of 70.

Snoop has often shared the story of how his mother gave him the nickname “Snoopy” after noticing his love for watching Peanuts and believing he resembled the cartoon’s famous dog character. The rapper later honored her memory on his 2025 gospel album Altar Call, which he dedicated to her.

London and Snoop have a history of working together, having first crossed paths in the early 2000s when she appeared in some of his music videos, including the 2002 visual for “From tha Chuuuch to da Palace” and the 2004 video for “Drop It Like It’s Hot.”

Jonathan Daviss will portray Snoop Dogg in the film, while Myles Bullock steps into the role of Dr. Dre. The cast also features Camron Jones, who will play 2Pac.

London’s previous acting credits include Netflix’s You People, Without Remorse, ATL, and Games People Play.

Snoop is scheduled to hit theaters on August 6, 2027.
