Kanye West is officially back on X, and he used the return to drop big news: a concert in South Africa.
After weeks of silence following the messy rollout of his YZY Money crypto project in August, Ye resurfaced on Sept. 19 with a post announcing a show in Johannesburg on Dec. 13.
He called it his “only performance in South Africa,” marking his first time performing in the country in 12 years, according to Nigerian Entertainment Today.
Back in 2013, Kanye West headlined the Castle Lite Feel the Beat of the Sub-Zero concert at The Dome in Johannesburg.
His newly announced South Africa return comes just as the documentary In Whose Name? hit screens, spotlighting pivotal moments in Ye’s battles with the music industry and the public eye.
One heated scene shows Ye clashing with Kris Jenner over narratives around his mental health. “No one from the family has taken any responsibility for my hospital visit,” Ye tells her. “But if you were to go online, that’s 50 percent of what people say, at least. Am I lying?” When Kris replies, “It doesn’t matter,” Ye erupts: “It do matter! It does matter! It does matter!”
In honor of the doc’s release, YesJulz — who’s previously claimed she worked with Ye — shared a throwback photo on Snapchat. The picture showed her in a futuristic chair hooked up to a brain-scanning device, which she said Ye had arranged. “This pic is from that one time he had a brain doctor put a brain scan machine in his hotel room at the Trump towers in Chicago to assess the team’s brains,” she wrote.
Meanwhile, Ye is also facing fresh accusations. Artist Dave Bluntz recently alleged in an unreleased song that surfaced online that Kanye tried to groom him. “Cut off Kanye West, because that n***a tried to groom me,” Bluntz rapped in one clip. On a longer version, he continued: “Kanye West, he made me diss the Jews… Bitch I’m speaking out this is my truth / I’m so sick and tired of being groomed… I’m not your cousin, you can’t top me… Two cousins should not have sex / Two cousins should not 69.”
