Is Taylor Swift’s “Actually Romantic” Throwing Shade at Charli XCX? Fans Can’t Decide

Taylor Swift’s upcoming album The Life of a Showgirl has fans buzzing—not just for the music, but over whether one of its tracks takes aim at Charli XCX.

Page Six reported that alleged lyrics from a supposed leak are making the rounds online, with fans dissecting what’s said to be Swift’s new song “Actually Romantic.” Some are convinced it’s a diss track directed at Charli, while others remain skeptical about the authenticity of the leak.

One Reddit thread devoted to the theory is filled with split reactions. “I hope they work it out on the remix,” one fan joked, while another cautioned, “This seems to be stretching just a tiny bit… I’m sure it’s about someone sure, but this feels like 2+2=5 to me.”

The speculation has spilled over to X, where screenshots of the alleged lyrics are being shared widely.

But according to The Fader, there’s no verification that the photos or lyrics are real—they could easily be fakes circulating online. Fans will have to wait until the album officially arrives to know for sure.

According to Page Six, much of the speculation around Taylor Swift’s “Actually Romantic” comes from its title, which resembles Charli XCX’s track “Everything Is Romantic.”

The outlet also pointed to a rumored lyric: “I heard you call me ‘Boring Barbie’ when the coke’s got you brave.” While fans have latched onto the line as a possible jab, Swift has not confirmed that it references Charli.

Whispers of tension between the two artists aren’t new. As The Fader noted, some fans previously thought one of Charli’s own songs doubled as a diss track toward Swift.

Meanwhile, Daily Beast reported that the pair allegedly drifted apart after Charli grew closer to Swift’s ex, Matty Healy—fueling further chatter about a potential feud.
