Diddy Sentenced in Sex Trafficking Trial, Hit With $500K Fine

Diddy’s legal troubles just got heavier.

On Friday (October 3), the Bad Boy mogul stood before Judge Arun Subramanian to learn his fate after being convicted on two counts of violating the Mann Act. According to Inner City Press, the judge handed down a 50-month prison sentence.

Along with the prison time, Diddy was hit with a $500,000 fine and will face five years of supervised release once he’s out.

Diddy’s sentencing came after weeks of intense speculation and competing recommendations.

Judge Arun Subramanian weighed very different proposals from all sides. Diddy’s lawyers pushed for time served—he’s been in custody since September 2024—while federal prosecutors urged either the 20-year statutory maximum or, at minimum, 135 months (just over 11 years). The Probation Department recommended a lighter range of 70 to 87 months.

After a seven-week trial this summer, Diddy was convicted on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution under the Mann Act but acquitted of the more serious racketeering and sex trafficking charges.

On the eve of sentencing, his legal team released an 11-minute, campaign-style video highlighting the Bad Boy founder’s career. In one clip, Diddy reflected: “I know in order for me to get into Heaven, I’m not gon’ get in there [like] ‘Well, come on in Heaven. You had 20 hit records.’ That don’t mean nothing and that’s what this world is for. They gon’ say, ‘Oh, come on in Heaven. You was a nice person.’”

Letters to the court poured in ahead of the hearing. Cassie Ventura—who also testified at trial—and her parents, Regina and Rodrick Ventura, urged Judge Subramanian to weigh “the truths at hand that the jury failed to see.”

In his own letter, Diddy asked for “mercy,” “not only for my sake, but for the sake of my children.”

Addressing the courtroom Friday, he directly apologized to Cassie and “all victims of domestic violence,” saying, “I hate myself right now. I’ve been stripped down to nothing. I want to apologize to my seven children… I’m so sorry. You deserve better. To my mother, I feel… you taught me better,” according to Inner City Press.

The judge ultimately sentenced him to 50 months in prison, a $500,000 fine, and five years of supervised release.

This story is still developing.
