Boosie Badazz, who’s staring down a possible 24-month federal prison sentence over a gun case, is making a bold move to try and avoid it — by hiring lobbyists to seek a presidential pardon from Donald Trump.
According to LegiStorm, the Louisiana rapper brought on J.M. Burkman & Associates to petition Trump on his behalf. Public filings show that lobbyists Jack Burkman and Jacob Wohl are representing him, with the stated goal of “seeking a presidential pardon” for Boosie, whom they describe as a “rapper and world-class musician.”
Burkman and Wohl, widely known as far-right operatives, were previously convicted in Ohio for orchestrating robocalls sent to 85,000 voters in predominantly Black neighborhoods across several states during the 2020 election, spreading false information to discourage mail-in voting. They were sentenced to two years of probation and 500 hours of voter registration work.
The controversy didn’t end there — the pair later pleaded no contest in Michigan to similar charges for voter suppression calls targeting Black voters in Detroit during that same election. They’re expected to be sentenced for that case on Dec. 1.
Boosie has publicly appealed to Trump before. Back in January, he took to X to plead his case to the former president.
“Trump CHECK MY CASE OUT MY CASE WAS DISMISSED BUT BIDENS DOJ RECHARGED ME WITH THE SAME GUN CHARGE BIDEN PARDON HIS SON OF .I WAS TOLD I AM THE ONLY PERSON IN THE COUNTRY FACING THAT CHARGE NOW,” Boosie wrote.
He continued, “PRESIDENT TRUMP, I ALREADY WAS GIVEN A 10 YEAR SENTENCE N STATE N 2009 FOR 3 rd offense MARIJUANA ( grams ,grams,grams ) I NEVER WAS EVEN OFFERED REHAB STRAIGHT TO PRISON.”
Boosie added, “N TRUMP IM BOOSIE IM A RAPPER/ FILMMAKER FROM BATON ROUGE .I WAS TARGETED.. MY MOUTH N THINGS I STAND ON GET ME N ALOT SHIT BUT IM REAL! My lawyer MEGHAN BLANCO can explain this case. She knew the charges n against you were bad she even spoke about it on radio.”
His plea came shortly after the 2024 election, marking another public attempt to get Trump’s attention — this time, with lobbyists officially in his corner.
