Dreka Gates is demanding that her estranged husband, Kevin Gates, pay thousands in child and spousal support, accusing the rapper of cutting off financial support for their family.
According to TMZ, Dreka—who tied the knot with the Baton Rouge rapper in 2015—claimed in court filings that Gates began “dismantling the financial foundation of their family” in 2021. The wellness entrepreneur alleged that he stopped paying property taxes and tuition for their children’s private school education. The pair share two kids, Islah, 12, and Khaza, 11—both of whom Gates named albums after.
To make matters worse, Dreka says Gates has continued flaunting a lavish lifestyle, purchasing 18 luxury cars and a $4.7 million home in Calabasas. Meanwhile, her small family farm in Mississippi is reportedly facing foreclosure after the IRS filed a $7 million notice. She’s asking for $27,193 a month in child support and an additional $46,274 in spousal support.
Gates, however, has pushed back, denying that the two were ever legally married and calling her claims “factually baseless.” Dreka, who is also seeking primary custody of their children, filed for divorce in July—just a month after media personality Brittany Renner confirmed she had married Gates. That union, a “spiritual” marriage under Islamic law, lasted only 52 days before ending.
While Gates has stayed quiet about the breakup, Renner told podcaster Bootleg Kev at the 2025 BET Awards that she has “no regrets” about the relationship.
“A lot of people, their issue is—even just in dating or marriage—they don’t give it their all,” she said. “But I feel like when you do, you’re at peace with whatever happens because I gave 100 percent.”
