The first of five suspects charged in the 2024 killing of rapper Julio Foolio has been found guilty of manslaughter instead of first-degree murder, following an eight-day trial and just a few hours of jury deliberation.
On Friday (Oct. 31), Alicia Andrews was convicted of manslaughter—a lesser offense than the original murder charge—and acquitted of conspiracy to commit murder.
The jury began deliberations at 6:50 p.m. and continued until 10:20 p.m., choosing to stay late rather than return the following week.
Prosecutors alleged that Andrews helped track Julio Foolio across several locations on the day he was killed, working with her co-defendants before the fatal shooting.
In her defense, Andrews tried to introduce evidence that she was a victim of domestic violence at the hands of her boyfriend and co-defendant, Isiah Chance, but the judge ruled that argument inadmissible.
The remaining four defendants—Chance, Sean Gathright, Davion Murphy, and Rashad Murphy—are expected to face trial next spring.
Julio Foolio, born Charles Jones, was fatally shot while celebrating his 26th birthday at an Airbnb.
He rose to prominence amid his highly publicized feud with Yungeen Ace in 2021, trading diss tracks like “Beatbox Remix” and “When I See You.”
Investigators believe Foolio’s death was part of an ongoing gang war between his alleged crew, 6 Block, and two rival groups: Ace’s Top Killers (ATK) and 1200. Authorities say all the remaining defendants, except Andrews, are members of those gangs.
Andrews is set to be sentenced on December 8 at 8:30 a.m.
