DJ Akademiks has remained one of the most outspoken figures surrounding the ongoing feud between Drake and Kendrick Lamar. By now, it is well known that he is far from neutral in the conflict, consistently defending Drake even when the Canadian superstar makes controversial moves involving lawsuits.
Recently, reports surfaced suggesting that Kendrick Lamar has a verse on the upcoming AZ and Chike album, where he is reportedly talking that talk. Akademiks addressed the rumor during a livestream while speaking with What’s The Dirt?
The conversation prompted Akademiks to issue a warning to K-Dot. He believes Lamar should seriously think twice before taking shots at The Game and Drake on his upcoming verse. According to Ak, Game isn’t someone you can diss and then simply walk away from the situation. He believes Kendrick would have to stay ready, pointing to Game’s history of keeping beefs alive and firing shots at people for years.
Akademiks has already called Lamar “lazy” and questioned whether the rapper is prepared to fully commit to a prolonged battle. At the same time, Akademiks says he doesn’t want to hear any more Drake disses because, in his view, the battle is finished and there are no more “round twos.”
What’s particularly interesting about those remarks is that Drake took shots at Kendrick throughout ICEMAN, yet Ak didn’t have the same criticism for him. His commentary appears to go in only one direction, although considering his OVO chain, that may not come as a surprise.
Kendrick Lamar is set to appear with a new verse on Jhené Aiko’s project, which drops tomorrow. From there, he will likely also appear on the AZ Chike album, which should be exciting news for hip-hop fans. At the end of the day, all we really want is good music.
