Offset has been hit with a new lawsuit following an alleged scuffle at a Los Angeles dispensary earlier this year.
According to court document, security guard Jim Leobardo Sanchez is suing the rapper for assault, battery, and intentional infliction of emotional distress over a March 14 incident at MedMen LAX. Filed on October 28 in Los Angeles County Superior Court, the complaint alleges that Sanchez was working security when Offset and a group of companions entered the store.
Sanchez claims he asked the rapper to present identification, which allegedly sparked the confrontation. The filing states that Offset “became hostile, verbally confrontational, and physically attacked Plaintiff by striking him in the face.” Sanchez also accuses members of Offset’s entourage of “grabbing, pushing, and further assaulting” him, leading to severe neck pain and headaches.
Paramedics reportedly treated Sanchez at the scene before he was taken to Centinela Hospital for emergency care and pain medication. He says his injuries have caused ongoing pain, emotional trauma, and financial strain due to medical expenses and lost wages. The lawsuit seeks general, special, and punitive damages exceeding $25,000.
When reports of the altercation first surfaced in March, a representative for Offset dismissed the accusations as “complete and total BS.” Sources close to the rapper told TMZ Hip Hop that the security guard had allegedly lunged at Offset and spat on him, triggering the confrontation. They also claimed the guard later used mace on Offset and his crew.
Offset has not publicly addressed the lawsuit, and attorneys for both sides have yet to comment. Sanchez, represented by Michael T. Karikomi and Savion Cotten of Katchko, Vitiello & Karikomi, PC, is requesting a jury trial. Despite past legal troubles, Offset has largely stayed clear of major convictions in recent years.
