For Jeezy, a win is a win — and this one just made history.
Over the weekend, the rapper earned a Guinness World Record for the largest performing orchestra ever at a hip-hop concert. The honor came during the Saturday (Nov. 1) show of his TM:101 Live residency in Las Vegas, held at the PH Live Resort & Casino.
Backstage, Jeezy was presented with an official certificate from Guinness World Records adjudicator Andy Glass, recognizing the milestone as part of the 25th anniversary celebration of his debut album, Let’s Get It: Thug Motivation 101.
“This isn’t just a win for me — it’s a moment for the culture, for music, and for Vegas,” Jeezy said in his acceptance speech, according to a press release. “Thank you to every musician, every fan, and everyone who believed we could take this all the way. A winner is a dreamer who never gave up!”
He went on to acknowledge the creative team behind TM:101 Live, including composer Derrick Hodge, musical director Adam Blackstone, DJ Drama, and DJ Ace. For the residency, Jeezy has been performing alongside Hodge’s Color Of Noize orchestra, transforming his hits into a full symphonic experience.
Following the completion of the Masquerade leg of his Las Vegas residency on October 31 and November 1, TM:101 Live will return for Nutcracker-themed performances on December 19 and 21.
Earlier this summer, Jeezy embarked on a nationwide tour, and one stop in particular became a viral moment. When his flight to Baltimore was canceled, the rapper hired an Uber driver named Tanner to drive him more than ten hours from Atlanta so he wouldn’t miss the show. In appreciation, Jeezy invited Tanner onstage during the concert. The driver later appeared in a pre-recorded message for Today, where he praised Jeezy, calling him “the real legend.”
