Big Sean has spoken out against claims that he’s dating someone new amid ongoing rumors of a breakup with Jhené Aiko.
The rapper addressed speculation that he was seen with a supposed new girlfriend by dropping several comments under an Instagram post he says was spreading false information.
“Yeah unfortunately I never met this person in my life lol,” he wrote on Thursday, adding that he “don’t even know” the woman being linked to him.
He continued, “This girl was standing next to @hitboy who is cut out the video. I don’t know why the fuck she was so close to me though. I didn’t see it at all till I saw this video and can understand the frustrations. Smh [crying laughing emoji] But I don’t even know this person at all.”
Sean’s comments came in response to rumors sparked by a circulating clip that appeared to show him with a supposed new girlfriend.
Last week, MediaTakeOut claimed, citing anonymous sources, that Big Sean and Jhené Aiko had broken up due to Sean’s alleged refusal to get married. Whether that’s true remains uncertain, as neither has publicly addressed the rumor.
The couple first got together in 2016, just months after dropping their joint debut album, Twenty88, under the same name. They later welcomed their son, Noah, in November 2022.
Fans have since weighed in on the rumors — some agreeing with the report that marriage issues caused the split, while others expressed disbelief that the duo would part ways after nearly a decade together.
In a 2024 interview on Charlamagne tha God’s Out of Context podcast, Sean shared his thoughts on marriage, saying it represents “the best relationship,” but emphasized that “having a relationship is first and foremost.”
“I feel like a lot of people get the idea of like, ‘Oh, you have to get married,'” he explained. “But then it’s like, to me, that’s almost a fear-based way of thinking, too. Because then people be getting divorced. The divorce rate so fucking high.”
Sean made it clear that marriage wasn’t off the table for him and Jhené Aiko, but said they weren’t yet at that stage.
“There’s a lot of work that needs to be done,” he said.
