In a quick street interview in Tokyo, the artist formerly known as Kanye West did a fit check and gave an unexpectedly strange answer when asked which fashion trend he most regrets being part of.
In a clip posted by Mystery Fashionist, Ye was asked to break down his outfit and rate it out of ten. “Oh, it’s always a ten out of ten,” he said. “I got the original Yeezy 950 boots on. You know, Gosha did the pop-up today, so the rest of it’s all Gosha.” When asked which fashion trend he regrets, he paused before dryly answering: “Life.”
Ye also made a surprise appearance in Japan earlier this month when Travis Scott brought him out during a show at Tokorozawa’s Belluna Dome. In clips from the night, he arrived wearing a mask and dramatically unveiled himself before performing songs like “Can’t Tell Me Nothing” and “Through the Wire.”
Ye has been unusually active again lately. Earlier this month, he met with Rabbi Yoshiayo Yosef Pinto to “take accountability” for his hateful rhetoric toward the Jewish community. He’s faced intense backlash over the past few years for his comments, including a 2022 interview with Alex Jones in which he declared admiration for Adolf Hitler.
Officials in São Paulo also recently warned that Ye—who has released a track titled “Heil Hitler”—could face arrest if he makes pro-Nazi remarks during or around his upcoming show there. The performance is set for Nov. 29 with the venue still unannounced.
Ye hasn’t dropped a solo album since Donda 2, though he and Ty Dolla Sign released two collaborative projects last year. His next album, tentatively titled Bully, is expected to drop before year’s end.
