Jessica Alba recently revisited a nude scene she filmed for Fantastic Four, reflecting on how uncomfortable the moment truly was.
During an appearance at the Red Sea Film Festival on Friday (December 5), the actor and Honest Company founder looked back on shooting the 2005 Marvel film. Alba revealed that filming while undressed on a crowded bridge was her “least favorite scene.”
The moment shows Sue Storm, a.k.a. Invisible Woman, reappearing in just her bra and underwear before Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic (played by Ioan Gruffudd) says, “Wow, you’ve been working out.”
“I thought that was awful. It was very humiliating in real life,” Alba said, per Variety. “I grew up with a pretty conservative family, and I am a pretty modest person. I dreaded that scene for weeks. I have a lot of whiplash from those days.”
Even with that difficult experience, she said she “loved” playing Storm across two films and saw the character as someone she deeply admired.
“She was very maternal and very kind, but also not a pushover; she spoke her mind,” Alba said. “She had a great moral compass. No matter who you are, you can look up to her. Oftentimes, the women in these stories need to be saved by a guy or the villain… This was back then. It’s different now.”
The original pre-MCU Fantastic Four movies were box office successes, with the first film and its Silver Surfer sequel earning over $634 million combined. The franchise later returned with Fantastic Four in 2015, starring Kate Mara as Storm, and this year’s The Fantastic Four: First Steps, featuring Vanessa Kirby.
Today, Alba is enjoying a new chapter in her personal life with actor Danny Ramirez. The pair made things official at last month’s Baby2Baby Gala after months of being spotted together. Alba announced her split from Cash Warren earlier this year after 17 years of marriage. They share three children: Honor Marie, 17, Haven Garner, 14, and Hayes Alba, 7.
