Vin Diesel Sparks Buzz Over Cristiano Ronaldo Possibly Joining ‘Fast X: Part 2’

Vin Diesel is hinting at a huge crossover between Hollywood and the sports world as the Fast & Furious series races toward its final installment.

The actor revealed that soccer legend Cristiano Ronaldo is set to appear in Fast X: Part 2, sharing that the team actually created a role specifically for the superstar. Diesel amped up fan excitement by posting a photo of himself with Ronaldo on Instagram, strongly suggesting the athlete’s involvement in the next film.

In his caption, Diesel teased that the questions about Ronaldo joining the Fast & Furious family were already being answered behind the scenes, noting that they “wrote a role for him” and calling the football icon “a real one.”

Though Ronaldo hasn’t officially confirmed anything, Diesel’s remarks practically make it clear that the five-time Ballon d’Or champion is gearing up for an on-screen moment when the movie drops. Fast X: Part 2 is set for release in April 2027 and will mark the eleventh — and final — chapter of the blockbuster franchise.

Diesel will reprise his role as Dominic “Dom” Toretto, alongside returning favorites. The cast lineup includes Dwayne Johnson as Luke Hobbs, Jason Statham as Deckard Shaw, Jason Momoa as villain Dante Reyes, Jordana Brewster as Mia Toretto, and Michelle Rodriguez as Letty Ortiz.

Diesel also previously confirmed that Brian O’Connor — the beloved character originally played by the late Paul Walker — will make some form of return, a reveal he shared earlier this year at FuelFest. The film will once again be directed by Louis Leterrier, who led Fast X, with Christina Hodson and Oren Uziel writing the script.

Behind the scenes, production is pushing ahead under tighter financial oversight. Reports noted that Universal Pictures scaled back the budget after Fast X became one of the franchise’s priciest films ever, with an estimated $340 million budget.

Despite pulling in more than $700 million worldwide, Fast X struggled with profitability because of its high costs, especially compared to F9, which made over $725 million globally on a much smaller budget.

Still, the franchise is doubling down on spectacle and star power — and bringing Cristiano Ronaldo into the mix might be one of its boldest plays yet as it speeds toward its grand finale.
