DDG Claps Back at Guy Doubting Streaming Money: “I Probably Earn More Than You”

DDG stayed calm after a random passerby questioned whether streaming is really “hard work” and doubted that it can bring in “millions.”

Footage from DDG’s Twitch stream, later reposted by The Shade Room, captured the 28-year-old rapper and his crew posted up outside a Dior store. A man and a woman approached, greeted the group, took a moment to pose for the camera, then seemed to continue on their way.

The man later circled back to confront DDG, telling him, “This is what kids think work is, what you guys are doing.”

DDG pushed back, asking, “It’s hard work. You don’t think it’s hard work?”

“I think it’s hard work,” the man admitted, before adding, “But I think I’m driving a Bentley, and you guys are driving a Chevrolet.”

That comment didn’t quite land, especially since DDG recently bought his “dream car,” a Ferrari F8 Spider — with used models starting around $400,000. A Bentley, by comparison, starts at roughly $200,000.

“Whatchu mean?” DDG responded, as the stranger doubled down on his claim that streaming isn’t a real money-maker.

“OK, if I work hard, and you work equally as hard, the question is how much do we make for that work,” the man said. “OK, so, I make millions, so is this gonna make you guys millions?”

DDG, whose net worth is rumored to be over $8 million, calmly shut that down.

“I probably make more money than you … How much money do you make?” he asked.

Despite kicking off the conversation about money, the man oddly replied that he doesn’t “talk about” his income. DDG reiterated that he likely makes more money than him, which prompted the stranger to offer an unsolicited lecture on “success.”

“You might. If that’s so, then good job, man,” he said. “Here’s my success lesson. Don’t pursue your passion, pursue your competence because competence becomes success, success becomes more success, and that becomes passion.”

In reality, DDG has already reached major levels of success and recognition through both rap and streaming. His 2020 single “Moonwalking in Calabasas” featuring Blueface went double platinum, and he boasts over 4 million YouTube subscribers, more than 2 million Twitch followers, and nearly 7 million fans on Instagram.
