Bam Margera is setting the record straight as talk heats up about the next Jackass movie, stressing that he has zero interest in returning to the franchise and that any presence in the upcoming film would only come from old, previously shot footage.
In a recent, candid interview with Deadline, Margera revealed that his relationship with Jackass co-creators Johnny Knoxville and Jeff Tremaine is still strained following his exit from 2022’s Jackass Forever.
When asked point-blank about a possible return, Margera didn’t hold back. “I’m just too hurt by it, and I already accepted the fact that I don’t want anything to do with it anymore,” he said. “Right now at this time, I don’t wanna do anything.”
He went on to describe being cut from the fourth film as emotionally crushing, saying it left him feeling embarrassed and cast aside. “I was very angry, and now I’m not angry, I’m just hurt,” Margera added, making it clear he isn’t even open to entertaining the idea of a reunion right now.
Even so, Margera confirmed that he will still appear in the new Jackass movie — but only through old footage filmed years ago. According to him, he was told the team plans to dig through unused clips from Jackass Forever to piece together fresh scenes.
“They said, ‘We’re gonna sift through a lot of old footage to try to create something new,’” he explained. Margera said he agreed to that approach, pointing out that many of his scenes never made the final cut because they were either too extreme or made the movie too long. “As far as I know, I don’t have to film anything new, and I don’t want to.”
Margera also opened up about the financial and emotional toll of his departure, claiming he spent large amounts on treatment and professional help, only to later be told he was no longer involved. He’s previously spoken about the lingering trauma from that time, saying he’s had to accept being labeled an “ex-Jackass star.”
His remarks come just days after Johnny Knoxville confirmed that a new Jackass movie is officially in the works. Jackass 5 is set to hit theaters on June 26, 2026, with Paramount Pictures distributing the film. The news was announced on Instagram by Knoxville, the official Jackass account, and Gorilla Flicks.
