Dame Dash Loses Control of Another Film Amid Ongoing Legal Dispute With Filmmaker

Dame Dash has lost control of yet another film as part of the $823,000 judgment he still owes after losing a lawsuit.

According to legal documents, attorneys representing Josh Webber are moving to auction off Dash’s 2022 film Stoned, which is registered under Dame Dash Studios LLC. The move comes after the judgment owed to Webber remains unpaid.

As part of the original judgment, Dash was required to auction off his other films that were registered under his company, Poppington LLC. However, Stoned initially slipped through because its copyright was listed under a different entity, Dame Dash Studios.

That changed after Dash testified in other proceedings that Dame Dash Studios and Poppington LLC are essentially the same company. In a court filing, Webber described the “Dame Dash Studios” name as “a fake registrant for a copyright.” Based on that, the judge overseeing the case ordered Stoned to be auctioned as well.

The film’s logline on IMDb, where it’s listed as Dame Dash Studios Presents Stoned, reads: “In this hilarious movie escapade, two friends from opposite sides of life, partner up in a mission to help each other grow — and find weed.”

Losing the film marks the latest setback for Dash in his long-running legal fight with Webber. In 2022, Dash lost a defamation and copyright infringement lawsuit filed by the filmmakers, which resulted in the $823,000 judgment he has yet to pay. He was ordered to hand over full ownership of his businesses and several film titles to help cover the debt.

Two years later, Webber sued Dash again after Dash accused the filmmaker and others of “stealing my shit,” comments that allegedly cost Webber a directing job. Webber won that case as well, securing a $4 million judgment that also went unpaid.

In December, Webber filed a third lawsuit, alleging that Dash’s threat to launch a RICO case unless he was paid $100 million led to Webber losing a $10 million directing and producing opportunity.

Last September, Dash filed for bankruptcy in Florida, stating that he owes $25 million and has just $100 in cash.
