Jay-Z and Kanye West have one of hip-hop’s most complicated and iconic relationships. Both are superstar moguls, with one once taking the other under his wing, rising to new heights together before their relationship unraveled over a long list of alleged and confirmed issues. But after Ye made peace with several former rivals during his Chicago homecoming concerts, many are wondering whether the same could eventually happen with Hov. It seems unlikely, and Elliott Wilson appears to be hoping it stays that way.
Wilson responded on Twitter to Jermaine Dupri discussing the many guests Ye brought out for the Chicago shows. The lineup included Kid Cudi, Big Sean, Lupe Fiasco, Travis Scott, Future, Common, and more. “Everybody always reconciles with dude. I hope Big Homie never does,” Elliott wrote.
Although he did not directly name the Roc Nation mogul, fans quickly connected the dots. Still, those who agreed with Wilson did not all share the same reasoning. Some longtime Roc supporters remain firmly against the Yeezy mogul, while others hope Kanye is the one who never allows Jay back into his life.
The conversation surrounding Kanye West’s Jay-Z beef could also extend to Pusha T, particularly as Sean and much of the G.O.O.D. Music family have reconciled with Ye. While some are focused on personal relationships and industry loyalties, others have expressed outrage over artists seemingly overlooking Kanye’s past bigotry and controversies.
Most recently, Kanye West appeared to show Jay-Z some love for his Yankee Stadium performances, though the gesture may have been more about the show’s art direction than Hov himself. Given that Jay had taken shots at Ye during his Roots Picnic freestyle, the moment surprised many fans. Still, it clearly did not result in any major reunion or reconciliation.
Speaking of Jay-Z’s concerts, he has just completed the second night of his London shows, with more major performances still ahead. Some fans are now debating which Watch The Throne MC put on the better shows. But many of those discussions echo Elliott Wilson’s sentiment in one way or another: they do not expect The Throne to rule again.
