Halle Berry and Steph Curry are officially joining forces.
The Oscar-winning actress and the NBA superstar have landed a first-look unscripted TV and film deal through their production companies, HalleHolly and Unanimous Media. According to Deadline, the new partnership will focus on developing and producing unscripted projects that spotlight women-driven stories and diverse perspectives.
As part of the collaboration, Unanimous Media’s chief content officer, Sharla Sumpter-Bridgett, will team up with Berry and her producing partner, Holly Jeter, to bring fresh concepts to life.
“We’re thrilled to join forces with HalleHolly, a partnership that allows us the opportunity to collaborate on developing new and exciting storytelling opportunities for both of our companies,” Curry and Unanimous Media cofounder Erick Peyton shared in a statement. “Together, we’re committed to bringing fresh, underrepresented narratives to the screen. Most importantly, we’re excited to continue championing stories that celebrate strength, creativity and resilience.”
Berry echoed the excitement, saying, “It is rare to find partnership with such like-minded people. Holly and I are incredibly aligned with Unanimous in our commitment to integrity in crafting bold, innovative stories and pushing boundaries in order to open hearts and minds. Stepping into the unscripted space together feels like a natural extension of who we are and how we’ve built our company as multi-hyphenates. We couldn’t be happier about linking arms with this wonderful group.”
Unanimous Media has been on a roll lately. Founded in 2018, the company — which also holds a Global Talent Partnerships deal with Comcast NBCUniversal — recently celebrated the release of its animated film GOAT, which has pulled in $45 million as of February 18. Before that, the company debuted Allen Iv3rson, a three-part docuseries centered on NBA legend Allen Iverson.
HalleHolly has also been stacking wins, including the Lionsgate thriller Never Let Go. The company has sold projects to FX, Peacock and HBO, and has more on the way, including Fleur and The President is Missing.
