Kelly Osbourne Claps Back at Critics Over Her Look at The Brit Awards

Kelly Osbourne is speaking out after facing online backlash over her appearance at The Brit Awards this past weekend.

Kelly attended the ceremony in Manchester, England, on Saturday (Feb. 28) alongside her mother, Sharon Osbourne. The pair were there to represent Ozzy Osbourne, who was honored posthumously with a lifetime achievement award.

After her appearance at The Brit Awards sparked online chatter, Kelly Osbourne took to Instagram Stories to call out what she described as unnecessary cruelty.

Addressing the criticism, she wrote, “There is a special kind of cruelty in harming someone who is clearly going through something,” per The Hollywood Reporter. “Kicking me while I’m down, doubting my pain, spreading my struggles as gossip, and turning your back when I need support and love most. None of it proves strength; it only reveals a profound absence of compassion and character.”

She went on to share just how personal the moment is for her. “I’m currently going through the hardest time in my life,” Osbourne added. “I should not even have to defend myself. But I won’t sit here and allow myself to be dehumanized in such a way!”

Kelly also reposted a message from Mia Tyler, daughter of Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler, who publicly defended her.

“Before you comment on someone’s body, consider the possibility that they’re carrying something heavier than your opinion,” Tyler wrote. “It takes real strength to stand in the public eye, accepting accolades for their late iconic father and hold themselves together in front of the world. The least we can do is show the same grace in return.”

Kelly had previously addressed comments about her appearance back in December, revealing on Instagram Stories that she’s been “ill” since her world was “completely flipped upside down” following the death of her father, Ozzy, in July 2025. He passed away at 76 after suffering a heart attack.

“I don’t understand how people expect me to bounce back and look like everything is just fine in my life when it’s not,” she shared at the time.

When she first spoke publicly after Ozzy’s passing, Kelly thanked fans for their outpouring of love and support — but was honest about her grief, admitting she “won’t be OK for a while.”
