Mary J. Blige has a strong bond with 50 Cent, and despite his history of rap feuds, the R&B icon still sees him as a “nice” person.
The singer and actress, who appeared on 50 Cent’s Power Book II: Ghost, opened up about their friendship during the Monday (March 16) episode of Big Boy’s Neighborhood. Around the 38-minute mark, Blige described Fif as a “great boss” and noted that he “always blesses us with jobs,” referring to her fellow Power cast members.
When Big Boy mentioned that Fif has been his “guy for decades” and said he’s “so glad” the rapper “loves” him, Blige playfully responded, “Aren’t we all glad he loves us?”
The nine-time Grammy winner also looked back on the time 50 Cent appeared on her short-lived BET talk show, The Wine Down.
“He opened up so much. He was so soft and inviting and he told so much truth,” Blige said, reflecting on the 2023 episode. “And not that he would ever lie. What I’m saying is he was very vulnerable.”
She went on to describe the interview as “incredible.” “I was like, ‘Wow, you are really a nice man,’” she said, before adding, “He’s a beautiful person until you rub that wrong side and then that’s it.”
While 50 Cent has shown support to several female artists — even stepping in as a mentor to Yung Miami, who once dated his rival Diddy — he’s also built a long history of feuds with male rappers, including Ja Rule, Fat Joe, The Game, and more recently, T.I.
Just last month, things heated up between T.I. and 50 Cent over a possible Verzuz battle, with the situation quickly escalating into personal jabs involving each other’s families.
