During a recent livestream, Doja Cat had a funny moment when she compared her pet to Nicki Minaj after catching it chewing on wires.
“No, don’t chew on the wires!” she said while picking up her cat as it tried to gnaw through the cables connected to her streaming setup. “Are you Nicki Minaj? Are you chewing on the wires? Don’t chew on the wires! Let go… Let go, Nicki, let go, Nicki.”
After a brief struggle, she managed to pull the wires free from her cat’s mouth, as seen in the clip.
There’s nothing to suggest that Doja Cat was throwing shade with the comment. Instead, it may have simply been a nod to Nicki Minaj—who has recently leaned into MAGA politics and shown support for Donald Trump.
More likely, the moment was referencing a random viral tweet from 2025 that joked about a near mishap during a Beyoncé concert.
“Sources say it was nicki chewing the wires backstage,” the tweet read, as highlighted by a Beyoncé fan account pointing out the possible connection.
The last time Nicki Minaj and Doja Cat teamed up was back in 2020 on the remix of Doja’s hit track “Say So,” which featured on her album Hot Pink.
The two almost linked up again in 2022 for Doja’s song “Get Into It (Yuh).” However, during a Twitter Spaces session that same year, Nicki shared that although she was invited to join the track, she decided against it because she didn’t feel she had anything fresh or unique to add.
