Doja Cat became emotional during an Instagram Live session as she addressed the cancellation of her Primavera Sound performance in Barcelona due to what organizers described as “adverse weather.”
The rapper and singer had been scheduled to take the stage on Thursday (June 4), but festival organizers later announced that her performance, along with sets from Massive Attack and Bad Gyal, would no longer take place. According to Primavera Sound, “adverse weather and technical conditions made it impossible” for the artists to perform on their designated stages as planned.
“The weather wasn’t expected to improve. I didn’t know that,” Doja Cat explained. “I don’t think anyone truly realized how severe it was going to get, but it got really bad. And unfortunately, it happened on the worst possible day.”
The singer became emotional as she appeared to worry that fans might blame her for the cancellation.
“I really wanted to see you guys tonight, and I love you so much. I do,” she said. “No matter whatever the hell has happened, I still love you.”
The Vie artist went on to admit just how deeply the situation affected her.
“I’m absolutely crushed and completely heartbroken over all of this,” she said.
Fighting back tears, Doja promised fans that she would return to Primavera Sound in the future.
“I really wanted to put on an amazing show for you tonight,” she said. “I will be back, and when I return, I’m bringing an energy you’ve never seen before. I’m coming back with everything I’ve got and with my heart bigger than ever.”
Doja Cat also appeared on Instagram Live fully dressed in her stage outfit and makeup, backing up a post she shared on X where the Grammy-winning artist revealed she was “fully dressed and ready to go to stage” when she learned that the performance had been canceled.
