Drake’s Run at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 May Come to an End Next Week

Just a few months ago, many questioned whether Drake still had the same commercial pull that once made him an untouchable force in music. While his highly publicized feud with Kendrick Lamar may have affected public perception, it clearly wasn’t enough to stop him from debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.

The release of ICEMAN reaffirmed Drake’s dominance in the mainstream, and its extended run atop the charts has only strengthened that narrative.

However, after spending four consecutive weeks at No. 1, the album’s reign may soon be coming to an end. According to Kurrco, ICEMAN is projected to slip one spot to No. 2 on the Billboard 200 in its fifth week, with an estimated 104,000 units sold.

Even with the expected drop, the performance remains impressive. Few albums manage to maintain that level of momentum weeks after release, especially in an era where chart runs at No. 1—or even within the top 10—can be short-lived.

Even if ICEMAN drops to No. 2, moving more than 100,000 units in its fifth week is still a remarkable achievement—especially at a time when hip-hop sales overall have appeared less dominant than in previous years.

With tracks like “Janice STFU” and “Shabang” gaining major traction online and evolving into viral favorites, ICEMAN is shaping up to be one of the defining albums of the summer.

Beyond its chart success, Drake was recently spotted in Turks and Caicos alongside Stunna Sandy filming a new music video. Given that two of his other recent releases have yet to receive the same level of visual support as ICEMAN, it appears fans can expect a steady stream of music videos throughout this chapter of his career.

The increased focus on visuals suggests Drake may be investing more heavily in this album rollout than he has in some of his previous eras, keeping momentum high long after the project’s release.
