Diddy’s Lawyers Say They’ve Been Unable to Contact Him Behind Bars

Diddy continues to face several civil lawsuits while serving his prison sentence for transporting individuals across state lines for purposes of prostitution. One of the remaining cases was filed by Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones, whose lawsuit alleging sexual harassment and other claims against Sean Combs is still moving forward in court. However, Combs’ legal team says it has been unable to communicate with him to properly respond to the latest developments.

According to an exclusive report from AllHipHop’s Grouchy Greg Watkins, Diddy’s attorneys have asked United States District Judge J. Paul Oetken for additional time to respond in the ongoing case.

“As the Court is aware, Mr. Combs is currently incarcerated at FCI Fort Dix,” attorney Erica A. Wolff reportedly wrote. “The undersigned Counsel for Mr. Combs has been unable to communicate with Mr. Combs at FCI Fort Dix in advance of the approaching deadline to file his amended answer and counterclaims.”

The defense is requesting a three-week extension, which would move the filing deadline to July 21. According to the report, all parties involved have agreed to the request, and the extension would not impact any other court deadlines. The final decision now rests with the judge.

For those unfamiliar with the case, Lil Rod filed his lawsuit against Diddy in 2024 after working as a producer on The Love Album: Off The Grid. In the complaint, he accused the Bad Boy founder of groping and sexually harassing him, pressuring him to solicit sex workers, attempting to lure him into sexual encounters with other men by promising career opportunities, threatening him with violence, and allegedly drugging his drinks.

Diddy has denied all of the allegations. While the court has dismissed several of Lil Rod’s claims—including the civil RICO, breach of contract, emotional distress, and a trafficking claim against Combs Global—other claims remain active. Those include the trafficking allegation against Combs personally, as well as claims of sexual assault.

It remains to be seen whether Diddy’s legal team will be able to contact him in time to file the required response. Meanwhile, the music mogul remains behind bars, although his projected release date was recently moved up to February 23, 2028. He also continues to challenge his conviction through the appeals process.
