Dylan Wolf is speaking out for the first time after his Fourth of July kiss with Bunnie Xo became a major talking point, making it clear that he does not want to create more tension around an already complicated situation.
The Calabasas Confidential star opened up about the viral moment during an interview with TMZ, revealing that he has remained in contact with Bunnie after the two were seen sharing a kiss in the VIP area of Goodnight Nashville, the bar owned by her estranged husband Jelly Roll.
“I just talked to her not too long ago—earlier today,” Wolf said. “I love Bunnie. She’s great. She’s got a lot going on right now but I’m here for her and she’s super sick.”
Wolf also made it clear that he has not spoken to Jelly Roll since the public kiss gained widespread attention online. “I’ve got love for the both of them,” he said. “Obviously, they’ve got a lot going on right now.”
However, the 24-year-old still joked about the internet’s fascination with the pair’s 22-year age difference. “At the end of the day, she’s single, she’s young, she’s having fun,” Wolf said. “Sometimes a cowboy wants to hunt cougars and rabbits.”
The kiss became the first major romance speculation surrounding Bunnie since reports surfaced in May that Jelly Roll had privately filed for divorce after almost a decade of marriage.
The public sighting happened shortly after Bunnie addressed rumors that she had started a relationship with Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger, strongly denying the claims.
“I did not cheat on my husband,” she said during an episode of Dumb Blonde. “There is no Chad and Bunnie Xo.”
Jelly Roll later backed up her statement during a concert in Saratoga Springs, New York, telling fans, “Nobody cheated on nobody.” He encouraged people to hear Bunnie’s side of the story, saying that “every word of it is the truth.”
Although their marriage has ended, both Bunnie and Jelly Roll have continued to describe each other as close friends. On her podcast, Bunnie referred to the Grammy-nominated artist as “my f*cking best friend” and said, “I love him.”
She also explained that their relationship has always been different from the norm, revealing that they still hope to welcome a child together despite their divorce after years of undergoing IVF treatments.
“We have been the most unconventional couple that you guys have ever encountered,” Bunnie said. “Being happy and healthy and best friends through this is probably the biggest gift that we could have given each other.”
Wolf, who gained attention this year as the self-proclaimed “Malibu cowboy” on Netflix’s Calabasas Confidential, admitted that seeing the couple’s breakup unfold from afar has been difficult.
“It’s sad to see,” he said. “That’s life. You just want the best for everyone and glory to God.”
