‘Married to Medicine’ Star Lia Jones Alleges Her Ex-Husband Attempted to Have Her Murdered

Former Married to Medicine: Los Angeles star Lia Jones is accusing her ex-husband, Dr. Colin Dias, of allegedly attempting to arrange for someone to kill her. Dr. Dias has strongly denied the accusation as the former couple prepares for another legal battle.

According to documents obtained by TMZ, Jones filed for a domestic violence restraining order on Monday, July 13. She claims a neighbor informed her that Dias asked “what would it cost to get rid of [her]” and allegedly said he could get a “clean gun.” Jones further alleged that her ex is “actively looking and recruiting to have it done.”

The court did not grant Jones immediate protection. Instead, a judge determined that her secondhand allegations required a formal hearing, which has been scheduled for August 5. Jones also cited an alleged pattern of domestic violence, claiming she previously obtained a restraining order after accusing Dias of hitting her with a belt and pulling her by the hair. She argued that his feelings toward her have “shifted to control and obsession” and claimed he has the “means and desire” to orchestrate her murder.

Dias’ attorney, Robert Eisfelder, strongly rejected the allegations. In a statement to TMZ, Eisfelder said his client denies Jones’ claims and accused her of leaving out important details from the former couple’s lengthy legal disputes. He pointed out that Dias currently has sole legal and physical custody of their two minor children, whom he said are “thriving” while in their father’s care. Jones currently has supervised visitation and is seeking a custody modification during a July 28 hearing.

Jones joined Married to Medicine: Los Angeles in 2020 using her married name, Lia Dias. Instead of following the typical “doctor’s wife” storyline, she entered the series as a beauty entrepreneur behind The Girl Cave LA and Hype Hair Magazine. Her friendship with Dr. Imani Walker, tense moments with Shanique Drummond, and Dr. Dias’ limited appearances on the show helped establish her as one of the standout personalities during the series’ second and final season.

The couple officially finalized their divorce in 2023 following separate allegations of abuse from both sides. Dias previously secured a restraining order against Jones after alleging she threatened his life and physically assaulted him. Jones later told the court that she completed a 52-week domestic violence program, parenting and anger-management courses, as well as therapy.

She is also requesting permission to sell a home she alleges Dias made her transfer to him in exchange for access to their children.
