Chris Brown Pleads Guilty Over London Nightclub Fight Allegation
Chris Brown stepped away from his “R&B” tour with Usher to address legal matters surrounding an alleged attack at a London nightclub. According to the BBC, the singer pleaded guilty to “affray” in court on Friday (July 24), a charge involving public fighting or threatening violence in a way that causes others to fear for their safety.
Brown was arrested in May 2025 in connection with a February 2023 incident involving rapper and co-defendant Omololu “Hoody Baby” Akinlolu and alleged victim and music producer Abe Diaw. The two men were accused of attacking Diaw at a London nightclub, with allegations that a tequila bottle was used during the incident.
The court reportedly dismissed more serious charges against Brown, including assault, suspicion of grievous bodily harm, and possession of an offensive weapon. The affray charge reportedly states: “Chris Brown and Omololu Akinlolu on February 19 2023 used or threatened unlawful violence towards another and their conduct taken together was such as would cause a person of reasonable firmness present at the scene to fear for his personal safety.”
Following their guilty pleas, both defendants were reportedly granted bail and are expected to return to the United Kingdom on October 26 for sentencing, provided they arrive in the country the day before. The affray charge reportedly carries a maximum sentence of three years in prison.
Diaw had previously filed a lawsuit against Brown over the incident but dropped the case last year. It remains unclear whether the two parties reached an out-of-court settlement.
This guilty plea could potentially affect Chris Brown’s ongoing tour with Usher, though for now, the shows appear to be moving forward as scheduled. However, depending on the sentence handed down to Brown and Akinlolu, the situation could change quickly. The pair are still expected to have additional performances in November and December after the sentencing hearing.
As of press time, Brown has not publicly commented on the matter. It remains to be seen whether he will address the situation soon, either through social media or from the stage.
Regardless, the lengthy legal battle between Chris Brown and Abe Diaw appears to be nearing its final chapter as the case moves toward a resolution.
