The photo that sparked Boosie BadAzz’s criticism turned out to be fake, and the rapper is now apologizing to A$AP Rocky for believing it was real. Boosie reversed his stance after Rocky explained that the viral concert image had been edited to make part of his microphone equipment appear as though he was wearing a thong.
“MY BAD ASAP IF THAT PHOTO WAS PHOTOSHOPPED BRO!!” Boosie wrote on X. He admitted the image caught him by surprise and said he felt the need to react because he believed it was genuine. “THATS MY BAD IF IT WAS PHOTOSHOPPED BRO,” he added, ending the post with “#love.”
Boosie’s initial response, however, was much more outspoken. The altered image quickly fueled online debate over A$AP Rocky’s bold fashion choices, despite the fact that the supposed thong was never actually part of what he was wearing.
A$AP Rocky eventually addressed the viral image during his recent interview with Jason Lee, confirming that the photo had been digitally altered. He joked that Boosie BadAzz simply believed what he saw because of his age.
“Boosie, he older so he really think that is what it is,” Rocky said with a laugh. “Boosie bugged out for that.”
AWGE had previously shut down the rumor, explaining that the visible strap in the image was actually part of Rocky’s microphone pack. Rather than simply deny the claims, the creative collective turned the moment into a business opportunity by releasing a thong collection inspired by the viral joke.
Rocky told Lee the decision paid off, revealing that the thongs sold out on the very first night. Instead of getting upset over the online ridicule, he said he’d rather capitalize on the attention than waste energy being angry about it.
Boosie’s apology appears to have put an end to his side of the controversy. After learning the image had been manipulated, he did not attempt to justify his earlier remarks. Rocky, meanwhile, seemed more entertained than bothered by the situation. What began as a doctored photo ultimately led to a successful merchandise launch and, weeks later, a public apology from Boosie.
