Lil Durk will not take the stand in his ongoing murder-for-hire trial.
On Thursday (Sept. 3), journalist Michael Blackshire reported that the defense had rested its case and that Durk, along with his two co-defendants, would not testify.
“The defense has fully rested. Durk Banks (Lil Durk) Deandre Wilson (OTF Dede), and David Lindsey (Browneyez) will not testify,” Blackshire wrote on X.
As of this writing, Lil Durk is on day ten of his murder-for-hire trial, where he is accused of orchestrating the 2022 attack on Quando Rondo in retaliation for the 2020 murder of King Von. Rondo survived, but his cousin, Saviay’a “Lul Pab” Robinson, was killed in the shooting.
This week, a wide range of witnesses testified for the Chicago rapper’s defense, including Tonya Johnican, the sister of his former security guard Big Country; Kevin Freeman from Durk’s nonprofit organization Neighborhood Heroes; Shekema “Queen Kema” Springfield, the mother of one of King Von’s children; Sanchay “Dharmic” Jain, former SVP of Marketing at Alamo Records, the label Durk is signed to; OTF Jam’s wife; his ex-girlfriend; and others.
Durk and his legal team are arguing that he had no involvement in the incident, claiming instead that alleged co-conspirator Kavon Grant, a.k.a. OTF Vonnie, was the “mastermind” behind the entire operation.
Durk has pleaded not guilty to the charges against him. If convicted, he could face life in prison. Closing arguments are scheduled to begin on Tuesday (Sept. 8).
