Robert Pattinson is reportedly among the actors being considered for the next 007 film after taking part in a screen test for the iconic role of James Bond.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 40-year-old English actor auditioned during the weekend of October 24. Callum Turner, Jack Lowden and Josh O’Connor are also reportedly in the running for the James Bond role. Pattinson’s screen tests reportedly took place in London, where he is currently working on The Batman Part II.
Nicholas Hoult has also reportedly auditioned for the role, according to Deadline. However, the outlet stressed that reports involving Pattinson and Hoult are “not confirmed.” It also noted that the shortlist features “no bigger than five actors.” Deadline further suggested that a final decision on the next Bond could be made by Thanksgiving.
Pattinson has had an impressive year at the box office, starring in major releases including Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, A24’s The Drama and Primetime. His upcoming projects include Dune: Part Three, set to hit theaters on December 18, the heist thriller The Take and the sequel to The Batman.
The next Bond installment will mark the franchise’s first film under Amazon MGM Studios. Denis Villeneuve signed on to direct last year, with Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight handling the screenplay. Amy Pascal and David Heyman are producing the project, while casting director Nina Gold joined the team in the spring.
Initial auditions took place in August, with the shortlist finalized in September. The most recent actor to portray James Bond was English star Daniel Craig, who appeared in five films during the franchise’s rebooted era, ending with 2021’s No Time to Die.
